The vocal track from Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes “Don’t Leave Me This Way” is beautiful. I’ve used part of it to build this track. The sweet soulful Melvin vocals compliments nicely the down-to-business dance beat in this tune. Its a wonderful contrast of sounds which takes the dance floor from a slow melodic groove into a jumping frenzy of ecstasy. Wow! Never thought I’d write a sentence like that.

The track “Zul” has an awesome rhythm, but on its own it seems a little empty. It needs something more. To fill the void I have given it the bassline from “Whoomp! There it is” (housecat mix). I have also included a nice percussive loop from “Love Inside” (Dub mix), which adds a little more spice to the tune. To top it off, I have taken a sample from “Music is my life” (David Jones remix) and looped it at various points through the mix. The track seems more complete now, and deserves to be renamed, so I’ve called it “Is The Music?”

You’ll recognize the elements contained in this tune. I’ve cut up and selected parts from the bassline of “I feel love”, which provides a nice layer over the top of the rhythm I lifted from a track called “Pereira Is Crazy” (this track contains the “push it” sample, which I’ve left in). The “Got the move” sample comes from a tune called “Better life” by DJ Neo.

A remix of a Michael Jackson track that I did back in 2001. To make this track, I found some classic house loops and chord progressions, which I re-worked and re-arranged with Sony Acid pro. This formed the backing track over which I layered the Rock My World acapella, which I also re-edited. Acid was very good for its day. It allowed me to pitch the speed up on the acapella while keeping the key-locked (similar to the “Master Tempo” on a CDJ).
