The goal is to set this up with the help of students in my DJ class. Between all of us, we are likely to get enough invitations out there to cover costs and make it a worth-while event. This will be an all-age event, which will mean keeping it alcohol free. This will be good, because it also means people are there for the right reasons.
Hopefully this will become a regular event–perhaps monthly. I’ll post updates on the party here. In the meantime, enjoy this set…

It was nice to hear a laid back mix of Collette “didn’t mean to turn you on” in this set. I love that track, and to have it followed up with the saxophone grooves of Fudge “Nightglows” before slipping into the vocally inspiring “Do you wanna Boogie” was perfect.
Ivan F’s set is titled simply “mixshow006″ and is sure to uplift your day.

Donovan has an extensive collection of pictures of his parties online at www.donovansf.com. While you browse those images, you will enjoy listening to this set from Donovan. It is called “Micasa Sexy Latin & Brazilian House, vol. 2″ and is built from an awesome collection of up-beat latin house tracks. I love this stuff. As you immerse yourself in the tunes, you feel an almost instinctual urge to dance.

Did you know that you can subscribe to brentishouse with itunes? I thought it would be more difficult to set up a true podcast, but the RSS feed on this site seems to be compatible. If you subscribe to www.brentishouse.com, it will work but itunes will complain that the format isn’t correct. To do it properly, subscribe to http://brentishouse.com/?feed=rss2 then it will work. Cool, huh?

We have changed our frequency to 108.0FM. This seems to give us a much clearer signal, since there are not many other stations in that band area. I was very happy to hear our signal broadcasting through the central city area and out to some of the nearby suburbs. Making the frequency change will almost certainly grow our audience… a good thing
The station still contains a range of musical styles, but has an emphathis on electronica–especially in the evenings and during weekends.
Our next step is to get Metropolis streamed live over the net. When this happens I will place a link to the feed here.

I couldn’t find any background info on Driguez other than the fact that his real name is Joel Rodriguez and he lives in Orlando.
If you like progressive house sounds, you will enjoy this set.
Driguez provides a playlist as follows:
1. Mara - Love Song (white label)
2. Martin Accorsi & Tim Skinner - Playing For Silence [playing for ramrod remix] (bedrock)
3. Steve Lawler - Rise ‘In (bedrock)
4. Be Quiet - Another World [martin h solar remix] (solar recordings)
5. Dario Nuñez & David Vio - Festen Roose (humana music)
I have just finished reading a book called “Last night a DJ saved my life”. It is probably the most definitive history of DJ’ing available. It tracks the evolution of DJ’ing from the first radio DJs through to the superstar DJs of the mid to late 1990s.
I think it is well worth reading, as it contains lots of interesting (and somewhat obscure) facts about the technology, music, clubs, and personalities that made DJ’ing into the highly respected career that it is today.
