In the mix with “therobsta”

Well known Christchurch City DJ “therobsta” has made 2 of his mixsets available for download. The first set is a very pleasant collection of vocal disco-house–a similar sound to Hed Kandi, but with therobsta’s own personality firmly embeded in there. The mix is very well put together with an excellent track selection. From its classic disco beginning through to the cutting edge house sounds of today this set will take you on a unique musical journey.

The second set featured here has a strong electro-house feel and delves into the darker reign of house. This “twisted disco” set features the vibrating electro sound that is sweeping the world. The track selection is, again, fantastic and the contrast between the minimalist electro sounds and the fuller sounds make this set a package that will kick any dance floor into action. I love the chunky bass lines in this set. When you hear these sounds you can’t help moving to the beat.

Happy Easter weekend. Last week’s Audiodreams event was a fantastic success. The tickets sold out, and we were pleased that the limited doorsales also sold out on the night. It was a great DJ lineup in an awesome venue. The event was held in a building that was once a chapel. It has an incredibly high roof, which was perfect for the lighting. There was a nice acoustic in the building too. The sound was warm and natural.

All in all, the event was great. Photos are available on www.audiodreams.co.nz along with video footage of the night (well, currently only 30 seconds of footage, but there is more on the way).

We are planning our next Audiodreams event for April 28th, so we are already starting the promotion.

In the mix with NaJ

Its been a while since the last mixset from NaJ. This one is another very pleasant listening experience. It contains some nice latin type rhythms and laid back vocals. Its nice to hear tracks in this set that I’ve never heard before–specifically the French releases. House music is definitely a world-wide phenomenom, and although it has crept back underground in the US, it is enjoying huge levels of popularity in the rest of the world. Aint it great :)
